Lucky Girl Crafts Mid-Week Blog Party - Day 1!!!

Here's my very first creation from my very first Lucky Girl Crafts kit!

With each kit, I strive to include at least one die-cut paper, which admittedly can be a little intimidating. I love the versatality of die-cut papers, though, and the unique look they can give a project.

For this layout, I used the Pink Paislee diecut paper, along with Pink Paislee Flip Notes and Clear Borderlines Stickers. I also used my Jenni Bowlin embellished butterfly and Black Glitter Puffy Thickers, which I've decided might be my favorite font in Thickers (until next time!)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the next stop on our Blog Party Hop -

Wonderful news from my blogging buddy!

One of my favorite friends in cyber-world has started her very own sketch challenge site, and I'm so excited for her!

You may recognize the super-talented Kim from her Memories in Thyme blog, or as one of my DT sisters at Practical Scrappers, Frosted Designs, and of course, Lucky Girl Crafts (because there's no way I'd pass on her talent!!!)

She's gathered quite a talented group of scrappers herself and will kick-off her first sketch at SKETCHES IN THYME next Friday, June 3. Visit her site & check out all the happenings! Knowing Kim, they are sure to be special!

Playing catch-up...

Between the end of school, a new position at work and starting a business, my life has been a little crazy-insane lately. I haven't had a chance to post my projects for Practical Scrappers the last few weeks, so I figured I should probably play catch up before the BIG REVEAL next week at Lucky Girl Crafts!!!

The top card is from our Patterned Paper challenge two weeks ago and features an adorable (pre-colored!) digi image from our awesome May sponsor, Wink Wink Ink!

The bottom layout is for our Fabric, Felt & Tulle challenge this past week. I created the flowers using rolled & wrapped tulle, Cosmo Cricket buttons, and bling.

Both projects use primarily My Mind's Eye papers. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Rockin' rainbow fun!

Hello my friends!

This week's challenge from Frosted Designs brings you bright and sunny colors, er... I mean, bright and RAINBOW colors!

We were challenged to use embellishments in rainbow colors... though when I read it, I thought it said to just use rainbow colors, period. Here's to fully reading the directions! LOL!
After all of the rain and cold, crummy weather we've been experiencing in my little corner of Colorado, I was needing something bright to lift my spirits, so alas, here came the inspiration for this fun layout.

I used three sheets of patterned paper for this layout - Making Memories (the stars), Glitz Designs (for the blue distressed photo mat) and We R Memory Keepers for the swirls, yellow scalloped accents, orange distressed journaling block and striped accent to the journaling block (which were all from one sheet of double-sided patterned paper). I also used a Stampin' Up paper clip-thing, self-adhesive patterned metal dots from Heidi Swapp and ribbon and journaling pens from Close To My Heart.

Be sure to check out the rest of the talented crew at Frosted Designs... I love what they've come up with this week!

Oh, and today's the last day for my Lucky Girl DT call! Get your entries to me by tonight at midnight MST!!!

Gettin' a little punchy!

Practical Scrappers has a great challenge this week... Get your punches out and get ready to play along!

I don't know about you, but I really dig the fancy-pants layered flowers on the market out there. Problem is, I live in a small town and the nearest scrapbook store is nearly 2 hours away, and I feel so guilty for ordering just a package or two of the blossoms on-line that I don't get my hands on them nearly as often as I'd like.

For this layout, I created 3D flowers using my Stampin' Up Boho Blossoms punch. I punched the flowers out of several different patterned paper, distressed the edges and, once the ink was dry (this is a key hint, by the way! Otherwise your ink gets all over and ruins the pretty effect you're trying so hard to create...), simply crimp, crunch and crumple the blossoms up. Once that's done, either poke holes through the center of your buttons and attach with a brad, or use glue dots to secure each blossom and top with pretty gems.

Here's how they turned out:

Really, once I got the hang of it, I quickly became addicted to them and made more than I needed for this layout, which I'm sure will adorn some other project in the very near future.

All of the patterned papers were from My Mind's Eye, with some Zva bling, Kaiser Craft adhesive pearls, and vintage lace thrown in the mix. I also used a pearly flower from Prima, some cardstock from Stampin' Up, a strip of wide blue ribbon from Target's dollar spot and K&Co. letter stickers. Oh - and can you spot the other punches I used? The scallop circle journaling tag is from Stampin' Up, and the "Threading Water" border punch is from Fiskars.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget ... the deadline for my Lucky Girl DT call is this Friday. Check out this post here for more details on how to enter!

I'm a Lipstick Chick!!!! Check out my first challenge layout!

I was recently invited to become a part of the xOxO Girls Design Team - The Lipstick Chicks - and today is our big reveal!

The xOxO Girls blog is all about the art of scraplifting! I don't know about you, but some of my best layouts are inspired by the artists whose blogs I regularly peruse - whether it's the layout, color combo, title or artistic elements, you all are some awesome artists.

At xOxO we celebrate the scraplift! The huge DT posts their layouts towards the beginning of the month, then you have a whole month to scraplift from one of the 25 layouts for a chance to win some scrappy awesomeness! The May challenge is sponsored by Color Me Miki - enter the challenge for a chance to win one of their fantastic kits.

For our DT pic, we had to don bright lipstick....

I never wear lipstick, especially in such bright colors, but it inspired me to create this:

For our May challenge, our layout had to use at least 5 of the following journal prompts:

1. Floral Print
2. Script
3. Teal
4. Burnt Orange
5. Black Alphas
6. Bird
7. Butterfly
8. Teal Flowers
9. Twigs/Branches/Trees
10. Pinkish/Red Flowers

I used them all except for the bird, because really, I think birds are kind of creepy. But that's just me.

Now go and scraplift from one of these amazing creations here and enter for your chance to win!!!

Baby, get your groove on...

This week's challenge at Frosted Designs is sanding!

For my layout, I created a faux-linen look by sanding first horizontally, then vertically on the white-core cardstock. All products on this layout are old-school Close To My Heart.

Thanks for popping in! Be sure to check out my first-ever Lucky Girl DT Call by clicking here.

Stuck on stickers!

Hi all!
Welcome to my Tuesday posting for Practical Scrappers - new day, new projects! Yeah! This week our challenge is stickers. I got some new Basic Grey stickers to use on my layout:

The layered fabric and button flowers, chipboard and even the striped ribbon in the corner are all stickers... OK, self-adhesive embellies, same thing! All products are from Basic Grey's Green at Heart line, except for the vinyl Thickers and cardstock - both American Crafts.

Thanks for stopping by & don't forget to check out the details for my new Lucky Girls DT Call!
