So proud... LGC Blog Party Day 2

Hey there. Thanks for joining us for our second day of celebrating the latest Lucky Girl Crafts kit, "Kid at Heart." If you're new to the party, check out the post above for details. And be sure to visit the rest of the Lucky Girls - you might get Lucky too!

Today's project brings out the bright, fun patterns to light with the Bo Bunny papers and some of my fave little embellies included in the kit.

Like any mom, I think my kiddos are the best. But sometimes, it's hard not to be super, over the moon, wildly, amazingly proud. This summer, my son and I went on a bike ride with my book club friends. What I thought was going to be a quick trip to the next town over (somehow, I forgot that this town is 12-1/2 miles away) was sooo long, and sooo hot. Uphill there, and we hit the headwind home, there were times when I wanted to quit. Seriously, I was about to call my husband to pick me up. But my son, Andrew? Nope. Not really. Sure, he wasn't thrilled the first mile, but after that - all I could say was WOW! Anyhow, I digress. (But thanks for letting me gloat about my awesome son!)

Check out what I created:

To frame the picture of my awesome son and Mt. Sopris in the background, I used the bright and fanciful colors of the Bo Bunny Block Party papers.

I fussy cut around some of the flourishes, and added a little Mod Podge Dimensional Glaze and scissor distressing to the largest designs. I traced the white, glittered Thickers, and traced my journaling around the core elements of the layout.

Finally, if you stuck with me through my proud parent/proud scrapper moment, who wants to get Lucky?

Each of the Lucky Girls on our blog party has some Lucky Bucks to give away, and each day of the party you'll have another chance to enter to win! Just follow these simple steps for a chance to win $7 Lucky Bucks to our store for my stop in the Blog Party!

What's your dream?! LGC Blog Party Day 1

Hi friends! I'm so glad you're able to join us for another Lucky Girl Crafts blog party. If you're new to the party, check out the post above for more details. The Lucky Girls have prizes in store for you, you'll just need to follow along!

This month's kit is more kid-themed, so I thought it'd be fun to take a more mature spin on it. The embellies this month are so luscious, and can be used in so many ways that it's really easy to stretch the kit for all kinds of different projects. Don't you just love it when that happens?

I'm the guest FITGirl at ScrapFIT this month (wootwoot!) my first layout goes along with their challenge prompt, "Dream".

One of my biggest dreams is to travel the world with my hubby, with Italy being in my #1 dream destination. I've never been, but my 2010 calendar was filled with gorgeous architecture, historical sites and rolling vineyards. You could almost taste the delicious food! What better place to get great pictures for a place you've never been?

I used one of the main 13x13 pictures for the large photo, and just traced a plate to get the circle. I took some of the thumbnail prints from the back of the calendar for the smaller photos, then embellished with the yummy scrappy goodness from the February Lucky Girl Crafts kit. (Who doesn't love Prima flowers?!)

For the centers of the flowers, I added a big dollop of Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, and sprinkled a bunch of seed beads in various colors. I was so pleased when it turned out better than expected!

And now, finally - do you want a chance to win some Lucky Bucks?

Each day of the blog party (Feb. 1-3) we'll have another chance for you to enter to win $7 Lucky Bucks to the Lucky Girl store. At the end of the party, the Lucky Girls will each choose one winner from their blog who played along. Here's how you can enter:

Earn 1 entry for referring a friend to the LGC blog party

Earn 1 entry for answering today's question: "What's your favorite childhood tradition (or) tradition you've got for your own children?"

Clearly yours... Valentine's treat bag

TGIF! Happy Friday, friends. I hope you've had a great week.
This week's challenge at Frosted Designs is all about being clear. The talented DT was tasked to use transparencies or acrylic elements in their proejcts this week. For me, this challenge came at a perfect time. I've been using the last little bits of my January Lucky Girl Crafts kit, which was packed with the lovely Pink Paislee Sweetness line, including one of their awesome acrylic cards. Serendipitous, right?!
Take a peek at my altered Valentine's treat bag:
I disassembled the mini gift bagbag to cut a window out of the front, then hot glued one of the Sweetness Clear Cards along the inside of the bag. Once that was done, I reassembled the bag and decorated the front with pleated grosgrain ribbon & fussy cut flowers from the Love Blooms paper. I added a little Shimmerz to the roses, a few layered buttons and a little Valentine's banner to tie it all together. The inside gift is wrapped in shimmery tissue paper and tulle.
So, what do you think? One of the participants at this morning's Two Rivers MOPS meetings is the lucky winner of this goody bag, filled, of course, with lots of scrappy goodies.

Join the fun for our first Friday Fun Day Challenge @ LGC!

Hi friends & happy Friday! I don't know about you, but I am soooo glad this day has arrived. After a long week, I look forward to a weekend of being crafty and selling Girl Scout cookies with Soph like it's nobody's business. At least we get to visit some of our old, totally awesome friends that we haven't seen in ages.

Not only am I excited for the weekend, but I am thrilled about the two projects I have for you today. (Please see the post prior to this one for my Frosted Designs project!)

First, have you heard? Lucky Girl Crafts just started our new weekly challenges with a kick-butt monthly prize and it rocks!

Our Lucky Girls will be posting new projects each and every Friday for you to gain inspiration from using the overall design, color combination, project title and/or use of embellies. At the close of the month, we'll pick the best of the bunch for a chance to win the latest Lucky Girl Crafts kit or store credit. Check out this link here for full rules & details so you can play along!

Here's our first Friday Fun Day project inspiration for your crafting pleasure:

You've Got Mail

I used some of my left over papers from the January LGC Kit "Forever Love" for this altered tin mini mail box, plus flowers, ribbon and bling from my stash. For the little flourish, I cut out the corner of the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Oliver Die Cut paper from the kit and used it as a mask. I sponged acrylic paint over my home-made mask, then outlined it in fine tipped permanent marker to make it stand out against the striped paper.

I am also playing along in this week's ScrapFit challenge, which is to use scraps. You'll see more of Lucky Girl Crafts as the February ScrapFit sponsor, and more of me there next month when I'm their guest DT!

Fancy that...

It's Frosted Designs time again!

This week's challenge prompt was to use 3 or more pictures, which was perfect since I just got in a huge order in from Snapfish. Among the piles of pictures I received was this grouping from the mini-vacation my hubby and I took for our 11th anniversary last year.

I won a getaway to this great little B&B in the middle of the Colorado mountains called Fresh & Wyld. They had a delicious gourmet dinner featuring local meats, veggies and wines. Though the little town didn't have much in the way of entertainment, the people were sweet, the scenery was amazing and it was a neat treat for us. I'd definitely go back.

I used part of the brochure for both my sub-title and title block. The name of the B&B is featured in metal frame, and the deceptive part was my main title block. this layout features nearly all products from the January Lucky Girl Crafts kit (or what's left of it - I've gotten so much out of it!). The white script letters from the kit were colored in with Bic permanent marker so it'd actually show up against the busy background.

For the center of the flower, I popped a circle photo out of one of the many chickens that were found on the property, then added a dimensional glaze and chunky glitter for extra emphasis. Check it out:

Be sure to stop by the best of the rest of the Frosted Designers (not to mention for your chance to win this month's awesome prize!!!) We hope to see you soon!

Treats for my sweets - last day of the LGC Blog Party

Happy Monday! Today's the final day in our January Lucky Girl Crafts blog party celebrating the Forever Love January 2011 Lucky Girl Crafts Kit and your final chance to win some store credit this month! Be sure to check out the rest of the Lucky Girls on their final day!

I've saved the best project for last - using a huge mixture of nearly every patterned paper included in the kit, plus a mixture of my fave embellies from the kit. Prepare to start drooling now! :)

I used Donna Salazar Smooch Spritz to dye my rosettes the perfect color for this layout, then added a little bling to make it sparkle!

For the circle tag, I distressed it with Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Broken China - which coordinated perfectly with the Pink Paislee paper & canvas ribbon. Notice I also used the last little bit of my Tim Holtz filmstrip ribbon I've been hoarding from my August LGC kit!

Donna Salazar Smooch Spray strikes again! This time on the gorgeous Tim Holtz elastic gathered ribbon from this month's kit. I love that all of those Tim Holtz ribbons come white - ready for you to coordinate with any layout with a simple spritz or swipe of ink. Fantastic!

Here's a little close up of the cover, which includes both alphas from this month's kit, plus a few K&Co. blinged-out rub ons.

For the clasp, I layered on of the Making Memories pearl brads through a large button with large holes. (If the holes had been too small, I would have used precision files to make the brad fit, but luckily I was able to skip that step.) Finally, I added two pre-flattened eyelets that I had run individually (sans paper) through my Crop-o-dile. I strung these flattened eyelets on the prongs of the brad. Finally, I poked the prongs of the brad through the paper, which was reinforced with cardstock on the back side of the patterned paper for the cover, sandwiched between the patterned paper and the album.

This allowed the extra space needed to wrap the ribbon around the clasp while minimizing the risk of a tear on the cover. Check it out:

I know after three days of crafty inspiration you're definitely drooling and dreaming of your own kit! Don't wait too long, though, or they might be gone before you get that chance!

Lucky Girl Dollar Aisle Makeover - Blog Party Day 2

Thanks for joining me again for the Lucky Girl Crafts blog party! I hope you're enjoying your weekend as much as I have been. It's been nice and relaxing - filled with movies and cuddles with my family. Pretty awesome, all in all.

Today's celebration of the Forever Love January 2011 Lucky Girl Crafts Kit brings a dollar aisle make over home decor project. Something I've been wanting to do for a long time, but none of my products had spoken to me (creatively, you know) until now. There was something about those beautiful vintage-inspired flowers on the Pink Paislee paper that just shouted to me - "CREATE!"
So, here's my fun, funky, vintage-y new sign for my soon-to-be redecorated craft area. It's made with a dollar aisle cork board that was already painted pink. Even if the cork board actually cost $2.50 - I still scored a sweet deal!
I fussy-cut the roses out of both sheets of the Pink Paislee patterned papers included in this month's kit and compiled them into a large bouquet. I used my super-old Making Memories foam letter stamps for the main title, along with some Pearl Plaid paint. Once that dried, I outlined it with a fine tipped Sharpie marker, then added my Thickers & Doodlebug letters. I Mod-Podged over the whole thing, then added a 1-1/2" double sided satin sash for hanging it.
Get your own kit that combines the vintage style and bright colors now before they're gone!
