TODAY'S PROMPT: What's your favorite October treat?

For the love of a good book...

Our challenge this week at Frosted Designs celebrates my other addiction- books! I'm always in the middle of a book, finishing two or three a week. Good thing my husband is so patient, since the bedroom is littered with books everywhere!

My favorite guilty pleasure is a certain series - maybe you can guess which one by my project this week...

I know - a respectable 30 year old mom of two really shouldn't be obsessed with such a book series, but I can't help myself! It's way to addictive. If, for some reason, you haven't figured it out - I'm talking about the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer.
Oh - on a totally different subject, did you hear about the Design Team call at Frosted Designs? Check out the details here and send in your submissions by October 15.

Join us October 1-3 for our monthly Blog Party and some Boo Crew inspiration (but here's a hint - it's not all about Halloween, or even scrapping this month!)

We also have some amazing new tools from Epiphany Crafts available for pre-order. These tools make it super easy to make custom embellishments in literally less than 30 seconds! My seven-year-old daughter mastered the tools within 10 minutes of me busting them out of their package - seriously, these things rock. Check out all the different shapes & sizes!

Ribbon Monster...

Hi, my name is Jessica, and I am a ribbon monster. I've got it falling out of drawers, hanging on hooks, tucked into pockets and tied onto just about everywhere. A girl could just get lost in all the different varieties of satin and grosgrain, shiny satins, patterned & pleated - it's just heaven! Ribbon is one of the main reasons I could never switch to full digital projects, because I just love the different textures and appeal that real ribbon holds.

Good thing this week is devoted to my guilty little pleasure over at Practical Scrappers. So many new ideas to play with! You've got to check them out.

Here's my contribution for the week - a super fun Halloween card I created with new products from my massive Epiphany Crafts prize pack that I got last week, plus some May Arts Halloween ribbon that I'm creating with for a guest blog post in a few weeks...

Patterned Papers, Stickers, Journaling Sprout: Jillibean Soup // Ribbon: May Arts // Epoxy Charm: Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio w/ Jillibean Soup Paper // Cardstock: Stampin' Up

How fun are those little monsters? They crack me up. I wove my printed satin ribbon through holes I created with my Crop-o-Dile, then slipped a strip of ribbon through one of the stitches for my bow. The back stitch I used held the ribbon in nice and tight, so all I had to do was adhere my ends, which I did with glue dots after I tucked under one of the back stitches on the inside of the card.

Oh, and notice that fun little stripy accent in the bottom right corner? That's a handmade epoxy charm that I created with my new Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio - definitely one of the coolest, easiest tools I have ever been lucky enough to play with! Watch for those soon in the Lucky Girl Crafts store - they're stinkin' awesome!!!

Are you brave enough?

Our challenge this week at Frosted Designs was definitely adventurous but definitely worth the risk! Are you up to the task?

We're talking about cutting photos - *gasp* I know, right? Admittedly, I was wary at first, but it is such a cool way of bringing out the focus of a photograph, and boy, do my Frosted Design sisters have some awesome ways of doing it! Seriously - go check them out here.

For my layout, I didn't want to detract from the beauty of the photo - a pic of the hot air balloon ride my mother-in-law took in the middle of the Colorado Rockies a few summers back. I simply added a few clouds cut out from my Cosmo Cricket Togetherness paper, and a Prima Say it in Studs swirl, along with my title. To make the photo *pop* I used two different sized circle punches (starting with the smallest size) to punch out the balloon, then again in the next size up to punch out a frame. I popped up the balloon with foam pop dots to add a little extra visual interest.

I dare you to go & be brave, and cut into your photos! Or at least try it a couple times. Then, post your projects to Frosted Designs by next Thursday for a chance to win some fun digi stamps!

Getting to the "core" of things...

This weeks' challenge at Practical Scrappers was to use white or color-core cardstock.

Lucky duck I am, my sweet friend Juanita recently gave me a whole pad of Coredinations Cardstock that was already dry embossed with Cosmo Cricket patterns. If you've never played with Coredinations, you must! Their cardstock is so much fun to sand, tear and play with because it always has a different color core than the main outside color. Too much fun!

My layout for the challenge is a mixture of (way) old and new products in my stash and combines the latest sketch from Sketchy Thursdays:

Patterned Paper: Paper Pizazz, Studio Calico // Cardstock: Coredinations/Cosmo Cricket, Bazzil // Alphabet & Large Bling Brad: Pink Paislee // Pearls: Close To My Heart // Gold Pen: American Crafts // Large Flower: Wal-Mart

For the color-core cardstock portion, I sanded the dry-embossed design and tore along the edge to bring the inner color to the fore front. I cut out some fancy flowers from a sheet of Studio Calico paper, and added a big peony (shamelessly from the fake floral section at WalMart) centered with a gorgeous bling brad from Pink Paislee. For the title, I smudged some PearlFX powder across the foamy Pink Paislee Artesian Alphabet. You can't really tell here, but it's nice and shiny now!

Have you had a chance to check out the rest of the amazing projects with white core and color core products that our great DT has come up with this week? Go check them out by clicking here and playing along for a chance to win some beautiful digi stamps from Robin's Fetish.

One project over the long weekend...

I had big plans to do not a whole lot of anything this weekend. Maybe organize my craft area, do some laundry, and finish a few layouts, but alas, the weekend was just as busy as the rest of our summer. Only two projects were completed - one of which I can't share until next Saturday.

Part of the reason I only completed two projects was because I was searching everywhere for my Bo Bunny papers so I could play along with their latest sketch challenge. Hmmm... maybe organizing should have taken a higher priority after all.

Here's my take on their fabulous sketch, using primarily products from their stinkin' cute Love Bandit line.

Patterned Papers, Chipboard Letters, "Paper Ribbon", Rub-Ons: Bo Bunny // Cardstock: Bazzill // Ink: StazOn // Button: Jenni Bowlin // Pearl Brad: Reminisce // White Paint: Delta Creamcoat

I used a few strips from their Love Bandit Cut-Outs to use as ribbon, just dying the backside with brown StazOn so it was solid instead of looking funky from the patterns on the reverse. I added a pearl brad through the center of a Jenni Bowlin vintage button for the center of the bow, and voila! Insta-paper bow.

For the circles, I just used very liberally applied white acrylic paint to the bottom of the paint lid for the larger dots, then the tip of a new pencil eraser for the smaller, solid dots. I liked how the drips looked, and the texture is really fun.

Thanks for visiting me today! I hope your week is fantabulous!

The layout didn't turn out too shabby either. ;)
I thought I'd go a different route by pairing such a pastel-y photo with the dark, rich Eggplant cardstock and some of the Prima patterned papers. The addition of the loose glitter and glitter trim keeps it from being too serious - perfect for such a girly girl like my sweet niece. Again, everything seen on this layout is from our latest (and most loved!) kit, our September kit - Falling For You

Day 2 of our Lucky Girl Blog Party! This one's for the fellas...

Thanks for joining us for day 2 of our Lucky Girl Blog Party!
Remember - each day we'll have new projects, and each day you can enter to win. Each of the DT has a special scrappy surprise to give away to one Lucky reader - mini inspiration kits filled with ribbons, rub-ons, embellies and more! Plus, there's a grand prize on the main blog that you'll want to try your hand at winning too!
****************
I know what you're thinking. You see big, bright pink flowers, sparkly trim, glitter and bling, and you're thinking that I might just be a little wacky. What must I be thinking to use such a bright color palette for masculine projects?

Well, I'm thinking how easy it's going to be for some girl to fall in love with these handsome fellas...Cardstock: American Crafts //Alphabet: Pink Paislee // Journaling Block: My Mind's Eye // Flower, Pebble & Pearls: Prima Marketing Inc.

Every single thing in this layout - except for the gold paperclip - came from our amazing (and hugely popular) September kit - Falling For You -
Not only is it filled with fun, bright, well - frankly, girly colors - but combined with the cardstock in Eggplant, Butterscotch, Slate & Vanilla - you've got a kit that can pack a powerful creative punch!

For this layout, I added one of the Prima Pebbles in Script - already on a pop dot - directly onto a gold paper clip as an accent. The Slate and Butterscotch cardstock were perfect for such formal attire, and the My Mind's Eye journaling block had a great sentiment. I doodled a frame around the entire edge of the layout and added just three tiny Prima pearls to dress it up.

So tell me... have you fallen for this amazing kit too?
Because there's only TWO SEPTEMBER KITS LEFT!

Love it, need it, gotta have it?
Hurry to the Lucky Girl Crafts store to get your kit before they're gone!
You'll get FREE SHIPPING through September 15 - but don't wait that long because I have a sneaky feeling that they'll be sold out by then. Oh - and we have some great deals on extra embellies & alphas, plus some of our past kits, in our Out With The Old, In With The New sale section!

Check out my Lucky Girl sisters to see more from this beautiful kit:
