My first attempts at digi-layouts

I was playing around this weekend with Photoshop trying to make a flier for an upcoming Scrapbooking Swap Meet that I'm hosting with a friend in a few weeks and finally got around to playing with some digital elements that I downloaded FOREVER ago, but either couldn't figure out how to actually use them in a layout or have the time to figure it out.

Sure enough, I remembered enough from my newspaper layout days to actually be able to create something with the cute things I had on file. Yay me! This is a shock, because generally I can't remember last week - so being able to actually remember something from 4 years ago is quite amazing!

Everything I used on these layouts were FREE downloads that I found about 2 years ago. If you want to try your hand at digital scrapbooking, there are tons of great tutorials on-line. Do a search for free digital scrapbooking downloads and you should be able to find them. I am not nearly computer literate enough to explain it to you, but let me just say that if I can do it, so can you! I promise.

This first one uses a brown scallop paper design from Sandi Kreiger, which I downloaded from Making Memories. I don't remember off hand where the pink border thing came from, but it's from a free kit called Think Spring. I'll try to figure it out and post it soon. The transparent heart w/ bow came from AC Legg. I added my picture and my own journaling. It's a pretty basic, no-frills layout but it only took 5 minutes or so to create, so I'm not all that sad!

This one uses all elements from AC Legg. Again, super basic, but still only 5 minutes.

So what do you think about my foray into the digital world?
I don't think I'll ever be a full digital girl (she says with a sideways glance to the extremely messy scrap desk...) I'm too big into texture. I like to feel the papers and embellies and everything, plus the smell of a new paper packet or scrap supply is almost like a drug to me. You know... But this is such a quick way of doing things, and with all of the freebies out there, it may make it's appreance now and again when I need to create quick layouts. Only time shall tell!
