December Blog Party - Warm Winter Wishes & handmade holiday gifts

Hi friends -

Thank you so much for joining the monthly Lucky Girl Crafts Blog Party! Welcome to three days of awesome inspiration from the talented Lucky Girl Crafts team!!!

Be sure to stop by each day from now through Friday, December 3rd to get your mojo rejuvenated and enter to win!

This kit is filled with my personal favorite combination of colors and reminds me so much of my very own home, so it's extra special to me. It's like I'm sending a little bit of myself with every little kit. And who wouldn't love this kit, when it's filled with details as sweet as these:

Especially when you can create something as wonderful as this:

This altered canvas art is easily customizable to your own needs, and can make a relatively quick and pretty inexpensive (yet priceless!) holiday gift! For this, I trimmed my Bo Bunny Noel die cut paper to make a frame appropriately sized for my photograph. I cut out the inside of the frame so I could use the fun green damask pattern for other projects.

Before adding everything to my canvas, I used a dry brush technique to add a gold shimmery acrylic paint - very lightly. This is one of those do as I say, not as I do moments: make sure to let the paint dry completely before adhering your papers & pictures! Otherwise, you'll risk getting smears of paint across your whole layout. Luckily on this one, it was using a relatively translucent gold paint.

Anyhow, once that was done, I adhered everything using Modge Podge, adding a thick layer behind my paper and stickers, flattening out the air bubbles, then going over everything again with a few layers of Modge Podge to give it a brushed art effect. Once everything was dried, I added the title and flowers with hot glue (just to make sure it had extra sticking power to last for several years).

And that's it! This project took about 1-1/2 hours (during which I was also teaching several other ladies this project) and cost about $20 to make (considering the individual sheets of paper and embellies that were used).

Great idea here and a fun blog hop. I am making my granddaughter her own cook book this year. She is just starting to cook so I thought a book of her own with grandma's special recipes would be fun for her.

I think I have a canvas or two down in the scraproom right now. Might have to make a project! :)

I am making a few little gifties for my firends this year. Some little fabric pouches/purses. And a handmade recipe album for my oldest son.
